Overview

A Teduray village in Datu Hoffer Ampatuan where women make and sell rattan and bamboo goods.

In Barangay Limpongo, Datu Hoffer Ampatuan, the Teduray welcome visitors with a display of rattan and bamboo crafts. The women of the Limpongo Women and Youth Association keep up techniques handed down through generations, and the enterprise gives them both an income and a way of keeping their heritage going.

The Teduray live between Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur. Their name is explained as coming from tew, meaning people, and duray, a tiny bamboo hook that stands for their skill at fishing. The provincial government also lists the Monom handbag, woven from onomen, as a Datu Hoffer handicraft.
