Lake Butig

Butig, Lanao del Sur

Also known as Lake Butig National Park

Overview

A small forest lake at 500 metres in the southern highlands, with Mount Makaturing as its backdrop.

Lake Butig lies at the foot of the Butig mountains in Barangay Pindolonan, about 500 metres above sea level. It and its surrounding forest make up a 68-hectare national park declared in 1965.

The cool climate draws visitors and a swimming resort has been set up on the shore. Hornbills, parrots, woodpeckers and wild ducks live in the forest, along with Philippine monkeys, deer and wild pigs.
