Overview

A deep lake south-west of Lake Lanao, up to 120 metres deep and protected as a national park since 1965.

Lake Dapao covers about 10 square kilometres in Pualas and reaches a maximum depth of 120 metres, which puts it among the deepest lakes in the country. It is fed by run-off and several small rivers.

It was declared a national park in 1965 under Republic Act 4190. Snakehead, tilapia, carp, goby and catfish live in it; the endangered Barbodes tumba once did, but none were found in 1982 fieldwork and it is thought to be locally extinct.
